WHAT’S IT ABOUT? RBC is the biggest funder of fossil fuels in Canada (5th in the world), having poured over $250 Billion into fossil fuels since the Paris climate agreement was signed. It is complicit in exacerbating the climate crisis, human rights abuses and genocide at home and around the world. Their investments in the Coastal GasLink pipeline violate Wet’suwet’en rights and have led to militarized RCMP violence and a multiyear campaign of surveillance, harassment, and brutality. Their investments in tar sands extraction (Imperial Oil, TransMountain Expansion) violate Indigenous rights and cause devastating climate and health impacts.
